Metonímia, Portuguese for ‘metonymy,’ is a commentary on the limit of genre labels, the complexity of influence, and the tendency for the description of a sound to be, literally or figuratively, lost in translation. Greek for ‘beyond the name,’ it illustrates a critical attitude towards an enclosing of jazz and Brazilian music and proposes a fluid continuity between genres.
